Our pastor is Rev. Dr. B.J. Norrix. Pastor BJ recently unretired to serve at Christ Community. He retired in 2023 after 43 years of active service as a pastor in the United Methodist Church. In his ministry he served at Waddington/Louisville (St. Lawrence County) 1982-1984, Onondaga Hill United Methodist Church (1984-1988), Christ Community United Methodist Church 1988-2011, Christ United Methodist Church, Amherst, New York 2011-2015, and Syracuse United Methodist Ministries (Erwin First and Brown Memorial) 2015-2023.

Pastor BJ is actively engaged in local, and international mission. Locally through the Northwest Onondaga community of United Methodist churches and Internationally through the Nexus Seminary, Uganda project. Nexus Seminary is a “seminary without walls” that brings theological training to the rural areas of Uganda where formal theological training is either not available or too expensive or the basic admission requires are beyond reach. He partners in this ministry with Rev. Davis Richard Matovu of Soul Fishing Ministries in Uganda. The US portion of the ministry is coordinated through Friends of Nexus Seminary, a 501c3 not for profit incorporated in New York State. Friends of Nexus’ web site is friendsofnexus.org.

BJ earned a Bachelors Degree from Oral Roberts University (1978); a Master’s of Divinity Degree from Boston University School of Theology (1981), and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Asbury Seminary (2007).

BJ is married to Rev. Karen Bellimer (46 years). They live in Liverpool village with their elderly cat, Lizzie. He enjoys developing leaders, playing golf, reading, watching movies, and making new friends.
